Marcus Thomas backflip

Ever See a 300-Pound Lineman Do a Back-Flip? Meet Marcus Thomas

There was much consternation around the league when the Broncos moved up to take Jarvis Moss in the first round of the April draft. And then, three rounds later, moved up again to grab Marcus Thomas. It's not that Moss and Thomas don't have the physical tools -- both are first-round talents -- it's that they had some off-field issues in college that worried a lot of NFL teams. Who the hell knows if either will give Denver any trouble, but if this football thing doesn't work out for Thomas, the circus could be a career option:

... [T]he top performance [during the first day of training camp] occurred during team stretching when rookie defensive tackle Marcus Thomas was called out in front of the group in a tradition the players call "break down." Some players do a little dance, others a little shake. Some are laughed at, others are admired for their athleticism or rhythm.

Thomas, a 300-pound-plus defensive tackle from Florida, did a back-flip that so astonished his teammates he was quickly mobbed by several of them as the crowd roared its approval.

Okay, that's amazing. More amazing, is that Thomas busted this out during one of his workouts for pro scouts. (I can imagine a bunch of grumpy old dudes with stop watches looking on, mouths agape, wondering what the hell just happened.)

Who knows, maybe this will catch on. I'm all for replacing the pregame coin toss with two fat guys meeting at midfield and having a back-flip-off. Back on earth, why there isn't any YouTubage of this is mind-boggling, but here's the next best thing: Marcus Thomas trucking midgets.
